The Prince’s Trust Team programme launches in Berkshire on 25th January, with special adaptations for remote learning and work experience under lockdown conditions.

The potentially life-changing youth initiative is a personal development programme, usually lasting 12 weeks, for people aged 16-24 who are not in education, employment or training.

It includes community and team work, workplace skills coaching and exposure to new career options. It helps participants develop new skills, gain a qualification and meet new people.

Adviza will partner with London Irish RFC to deliver the programme to eligible young people in the region.

Why the pandemic won’t stop the Team programme

We have adapted so we can ensure young Team participants still have the opportunity to learn about career options and work skills, and to develop their confidence.

Our young people can digitally conference with local professionals and career experts who can present, chat and answer questions about a variety of career choices. Team community projects, fundraising and team challenges can all take place online.

How employers can contribute to Team

Local employers can help positively impact the future of our young people by participating in the programme. They can offer work experience or community projects, or volunteer employees to speak to young people about the careers they offer.

So far, local employers have offered work experience in sectors as broad as hair and beauty, engineering and manufacturing, retail, office and professional services. The emergency services are in great demand and doing a wonderful job, but many of our young people would love to learn more about them. Any local employer can add value and make a difference.

How young people can join Team

We typically run Prince’s Trust Team programmes three times a year so there are plenty of opportunities for young people to join, and as conditions change under the pandemic, so the programme will change to reflect circumstances.

Whether you’re a young person wishing to join a Team programme or a local employer who wants to help, there are many opportunities to get involved. You can contact Lee Tiedeman to learn more, at [email protected].
