A fun, space-themed game to encourage careers exploration at an early age has just been launched by Adviza.  Careers Planet has been developed by careers professionals specially for pupils in the later years of primary and the first years of secondary school (Key Stage 2 and 3).  It introduces pupils to the world of work in an imaginative way that encourages them to think about their future and motivates them to aim higher.

In this new classroom resource pupils become astronauts and voyage to a make-believe galaxy to discover 23 Careers Planets and the jobs that exist on them.  The activities are designed to boost knowledge of the wide variety of careers available, increase understanding of the labour market (eg, competition for jobs, entry routes and the skills and qualifications needed) and expand pupils’ horizons about what the future world of work could look like for them.

Careers Planet features activities for whole classes and small groups designed to span different ages and learning styles.  On their voyages into careers space pupils keep a log of planets visited and jobs researched, take part in job role plays, presentations and discussions, and undertake creative challenges before discovering more about themselves and designing their very own "Planet Me!"   Supplementary games such as Careers Planet bingo and the Space Mission board game are a fun way to further enhance pupils’ exploration of jobs and careers.

The game has been well received during our trials in primary and secondary schools.  Here are some of the comments we’ve received from teachers and pupils:

“I would very interested in using this resource. The lessons are quite short and can be slotted nicely into afternoon sessions. “ Primary school teacher

“The provided resources look great.” Year 6 teacher

“Very intresting (sic) and I think its fine for year sevens because it has helped us think about what we want to do.” Year 7 pupil

“Interesting, enjoyable, enjoyed everything.” Year 7 pupil

Careers Planet comes in a durable carry box containing everything needed to set up and run each activity.  The pack includes a stunning A0 colour poster of the Careers Planet galaxy, plus A3 versions to use as game boards, and 92 specially-written job information sheets.   The facilitator’s kit comprises detailed, timed lesson plans and reference materials for teachers together with all the classroom resources required, in both photocopiable format and on CD Rom.

The pack costs £150.00 + VAT.  To order email:, phone: 0845 408 5002 or visit our shop.
