Adviza to deliver Independent Support in 8 local areas
24th Jul 2014
Following on from Adviza’s successful work, for the Council for Disabled Children, on the Evidence & Build Phase of the Independent Support Programme from April to June 2014, the charity has been selected to deliver the Independent Support service in eight local authority areas.
The programme will provide Independent Supporters to work directly with young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and their parents going through the new assessment for an Education, Health and Care plan. Adviza will deliver the service from 1st September 2014 to 31st March 2016 in Bracknell Forest, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Reading, Slough, West Berkshire, Windsor & Maidenhead and Wokingham.
Working in partnership with local authority Parent Partnership Services and other voluntary organisations, Adviza will provide the service through a mixture of volunteer and paid Independent Supporters. The aim is to recruit 100 DBS checked, trained volunteer Independent Supporters by 31st March 2015 rising to 120 from 1st April 2015 – 31st March 2016.
More details on the programme can be found on the Independent Support web pages here.
