Elevate Bracknell Forest hub opened
27th Nov 2014
Young people in Bracknell can look forward to a helping hand in finding employment thanks to Elevate Bracknell Forest. Working with partners including Adviza, Bracknell Forest Council, Job Centre Plus, Bracknell & Wokingham College, Learning to Work, Nacro and the National Career Service, Elevate aims to address the skills gaps and unemployment of 16-24 year olds and support businesses to achieve their full potential.
The Adviza-run Connexions Centre in Charles Square has been rebranded to become the new Elevate IAG hub until it moves to a permanent location elsewhere within Bracknell town centre.
The hub provides careers Information, Advice and Guidance and support for young people from partner agencies in a new one-stop-shop. Young people can drop in for help with finding the right training, apprenticeships or work placements, writing CVs and preparing for interviews.
Bracknell Forest Council signed a landmark deal with the Government last year to boost youth employment across the borough and the Thames Valley.
Cllr Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration, said:
“Elevate Bracknell Forest is part of the Thames Valley Berkshire City Deal and allows us to employ a new approach to outreach work and programmes; one of our principal aims with this is to ensure that some of our most vulnerable groups such as young people with disabilities, learning difficulties, lone parents, and those not being helped as much as they might all benefit from this programme.
" I hope young people in the borough take the time to visit our new IAG hub to seek help and advice from our partners.”
Adviza Delivery Director Bob Harrison said. "Adviza is proud to be part of this exciting initiative and we look forward to working alongside our Elevate partners at the new hub to support local young people."
