Bringing schools and employers together
 

Are you a local school/college or employer? Though the Inspiration Agenda we provide a free service to help you work together to inspire young people, raise their learning and career aspirations and provide real-life contact with the world of work.

The Inspiration Agenda is an important part of the National Careers Service in our region, covering the following areas:

  • Buckinghamshire
  • Berkshire
  • Oxfordshire
  • Wiltshire
  • Swindon
  • Gloucestershire

Key Inspiration activities to date:

  • Code 12 Business Challenge employability programme run in schools, supported by volunteer mentors from the business community
  • Employablity workshops run in schools including changing jobs of the future, degree apprenticeships, financing my future, STEM careers
  • Inspiration Conferences attended by schools across the Thames Valley
  • A series of videos of young people called What I Wish I Knew giving insights into their journey into the world of work
  • An LMI platform developed for Slough Borough Council's Elevate Me website
  • Events for teachers and careers advisers in Gloucestershire schools focusing on careers in the NHS

Inspiration for schools and colleges

We help you make links and build on-going relationships with local employers through:

  • Employer brokerage to help you source inspiring speakers, mock interviews and visits to real-world workplaces
  • Labour market information gained through our links with Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), employers and other organisations
  • Support to help you meet the requirements of the statutory guidance and the expectations of Ofsted

Inspiration for employers

We help you engage with young people in local schools through inspiring activities:

  • Careers talks
  • Mentoring
  • Work experience and visits to the workplace
  • Readiness for work/employability skills training
  • Working with young people with special needs
  • Career management skills training (CV writing, interviews)
  • Attendance at parents/option evenings
