Mentoring is using your experience of life and work to support and encourage another to grow, develop and achieve their potential.

Our Lucky Break mentoring programmes support young people and adults across the Thames Valley who require help with confidence, resilience, employability and life skills. Each mentor brings their individual experience and skills and meets their mentee in either a school or commuity setting. We provide every mentor with up to one day of training, resources, DBS check and on-going support.

We match mentees with carefully selected and trained volunteer mentors from the local community. Our mentors work holistically, offering individually-tailored packages of support to help people to:

  • Overcome barriers to achievement
  • Build confidence and resilience
  • Increase motivation
  • Develop vital employability and life skills
  • Raise their aspirations to be the best they can be

“It has been extremely rewarding to offer support and see someone develop and succeed”.

“To someone else considering having a mentor, I would say 'just be yourself and let them help you.'“
