Adviza was delighted to participate in Ranelagh School’s excellent “Future Fair” earlier this month as part of our BEEP (Berkshire Education Employer Partnership) programme.

BEEP aligns schools and employers across the county, helping to inspire future generations to seek careers locally, keep key skills within the region and develop employability skills in young people. Berkshire employers can participate in BEEP in a number of ways, from providing work experience for students to mentoring them or talking to them about the careers opportunities they offer and the skills they hire.

The Ranelagh School Future Fair was a fantastic example of BEEP in action. Employers attending included Ringway, Village Hotels, Enviroverse, Eteach, Premier Education, Legoland, Aramark, Thames Valley Police, Chiltern Childcare Apprenticeships, Specsavers, Michael Noakes Accountancy and more.

The event was all about engaging students to think about their post 16 & 18 options, helping them to recognise new career pathways and providing an opportunity to network with employers. Around 200 students attended, each engaging well with the employers and leaving with an increased appreciation of the different types of industries and job roles available within the region as well as what different job roles entail.

Ranelagh School’s Careers Lead said: "I cannot thank the BEEP project enough for the support they provided for our inaugural careers fair. I reached out to a number of external sources for support and the BEEP project were the only ones who truly engaged with the school and made a significant contribution to the number of employers in attendance at the event.

Due to the impact of COVID the vast majority of the students in attendance have never had the opportunity to engage with industries and employers and the experience was invaluable to them. The support the BEEP project provided in getting employers on board and assisting the school in organising also meant that we could provide that opportunity to 4 year groups rather than taking one to an external fair as we have done in previous years.

In addition, the BEEP project will also be delivering some of the careers education in school next academic year which will once again be highly beneficial for our students. I hope that the BEEP project is able to continue running beyond 2023, they are the greatest source of careers education support I have come across and future students will miss out without it."
