Help us inspire with STEM

Would you like to support your company’s corporate social responsibility, help two youth charities - The Prince’s Trust and Adviza - and provide encouragement to disadvantaged young people?
Adviza is looking for local employers to inspire, motivate and educate 15 vulnerable young people about the world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and the career opportunities available to them.
As part of the successful Prince’s Trust Get Started programme we would like the 16-25 year olds to learn new skills in STEM and help make a difference in shaping their career and life choices.
The programme will run over a two week period from Monday 17th June to Thursday 27th June in Reading.
Here’s how your organisation can make a difference:
- Provide a meeting room on all or any of these days (June 17th - 20th and June 24th - 26th) - the room would need to have capacity for 15 people and ideally have refreshments provided between 10am to 4pm. A real life office environment will help to motivate and inspire to what the worlds of work looks like and feels like.
- Give a short talk (June 19th or 20th) - a STEM employer has the chance to bring to life what a STEM job is all about. The talk would need to last for 30 mins and be motivating to someone who hasn’t before considered working in a STEM role. The employer would need to be attend a venue in Reading, unless you can offer us a hosting room!
- Host an employer visit (June 20th, 24th and 25th) - this would include a tour of the employer’s premises, information about the company and an inspirational talk followed by a Q&A session.
- Hold a STEM work placement day (June 20th, 24th and/or 25th) - a day for a young person or group of young people to shadow a STEM employer to experience the world of work. The placement would ideally take place between 10am – 4pm, although just a morning or afternoon would be great.
