The National Careers Service offers fully-funded, personalised careers information, advice and guidance services to help you make decisions about careers, courses and work. Whatever stage you have reached in your career our qualified careers advisers are here to help. 

Adviza is the Sub-Contractor for the National Careers Service in the Berkshire and Oxfordshire regions.

We support customers through a range of accessible delivery including one-to-one sessions in person at one of our community locations or via telephone, webchat and video call, plus online tools and webinars.

What is the National Careers Service?

We provide free personalised information, advice and guidance to help you get into work or progress in your career. We do this by helping you: 

  • Explore your career options
  • Understand the local job market
  • Develop or enhance your CV
  • Search and apply for local jobs
  • Identify local opportunities including volunteering
  • Develop your interview skills
  • Apply for training and online learning
  • Build your confidence.

Our careers advisers can help you plan for your future, be more confident about your skills and more prepared to deal with changes you can’t predict.

Who it's for

The National Careers Service provides anyone aged 13+ with life long careers information, advice and guidance to help them make good career choices, no matter what stage they are at in their career.

  • Support is available by phone, online, email and text for anyone aged 13 and over.
  • Adults aged 19+ (or aged 18 if not in education, employment or training) needing more support may be eligible for a free appointment either in person at a local venue, via telephone or online.
  • We help local employers making redundancies to support their staff and ensure a smooth transition into new work. Find out more about our Regional Redeployment Service in association with local LEPs.

We offer:

  • One-to-one support for individuals, face-to-face or via telephone, webchat and video call. We also offer employers fully-funded support for redundancy, recruitment and retention. 
  • A wealth of online information, advice and resources via our website including skills assessments tools to match your skills to jobs that might suit you, advice on CVs, interview techniques and how to look for jobs, detailed job profiles and a course finder tool.
  • Free webinars and events for job seekers on a range of topics including CVs, interviews and transferable skills. 
  • The Skills Toolkit online platform, giving you easy access to free, high quality digital and numeracy courses to help you build up your skills, progress in work and boost your job prospects. The platform offers a range of courses at all levels, from introductory to advanced and it’s open to everyone.
  • Local labour market information for Berkshire and Oxfordshire including data on local employers, growth sectors, apprenticeships, average salaries and qualification levels.
