In Buckinghamshire, the construction scene is buzzing with energy! Imagine a jaw-dropping 31% surge in employment between 2016 and 2021! Right now, 16,000 make up this dynamic sector – a significant 6.8% of the county's workforce. Included in that are 9,300 self-employed workers, making up a whopping 22.9% of all self-employed people in the county. Pinewood Studios is going to be a key employer creating 3,000 construction jobs over three years! Plus, huge projects like HS2, East-West Rail, and housebuilding are turning dreams into reality. But Bucks will need more young people to join this journey as currently there will be more jobs than there are employees, which means a very fertile job market for you!

Now, let's jump into Berkshire and Oxfordshire, where the construction sector also looks promising. There are 5,945 construction companies in these counties, mainly micro and small teams doing big things. There's a call for an additional 19,000 new workers to join the construction adventure in Berkshire by 2035!

Oxfordshire is in on the action too, with an 11% increase in the sector. 4,660 enterprises are again mostly small businesses, but there will also be a huge demand for 18,000 new faces by 2035 – that's your cue to step into the limelight!
The bottom line? The construction world in these three counties is a big deal, and we need your energy and skills to keep the momentum alive. Do you fancy tackling challenges, building dreams shaping the future?

    FUTURE PLANS

Exciting plans are in the pipeline to turbocharge skills development in the construction world – and guess what? You're at the heart of it all!

Across all three counties there's a master plan to amp up collaboration between employers and colleges. Together, they will be developing T-levels and full-time programs that will teach you practical skills and get you workplace-ready, particularly in areas like civil engineering, chartered surveying, and town planning. Industry champions will also team up with lecturers to crank up the volume on technical training.

And then there are apprenticeships! There's a big push to get employers excited about taking on apprentices like you, so if you want to get working while also studying for technical qualifications, have a look on this website to see what opportunities there are.

Skills Bootcamps and short-tailor-made courses will also be available to build on your knowledge after you finish studying and start full-time work. This means you can add extra skills in areas such as scaffolding, steel fixing, bricklaying, carpentry, and plumbing and learn about new technologies as they arise from heat pump installation and maintenance to net zero management and awareness.

So, grab your hard hat and join the adventure!
