National Careers Service logoAyan, a recent university graduate, contacted the National Careers Service to gain help and support finding a graduate level job. He had just finished his degree and didn't know what his next steps would be as he had little real life work experience.

His careers adviser discussed his goals with him and provided details of websites to use to give him more insights into different career paths.

He says:

I now have a clear idea about the job sector I would like to eventually end up in and have learnt the importance of meaningful work experience.

She also gave him advice about ways to improve his CV, how to write and format cover letters, and how to answer interview questions.

He explains:

The National Careers Service’s advice gave me a much better CV and without their help I would not have known how to write a properly formatted covering letter. The best part for me is that I can now comfortably take part in job interviews because I can now discuss my goals and ambitions clearly.

Ayan went on to attend several interviews and was then offered a full time job.

He says:

I encourage people to contact the National Careers Service as it can help guide them on how to improve their job search.
